For a prospective peer-reviewed special issue of Literature Compass, we invite submissions that reflect on the past, present and future of modernist studies in various locations of Asia. How has “modernism” been historically conceived and studied in Asia? What institutions have shaped and are shaping the fortunes of modernist studies in Asia? How are the histories and practices of modernist studies mediated by translation among various languages used in this part of the world?

The newly-established Modernist Studies in Asia (MSIA) network calls for abstracts for its inaugural conference on the subject of ‘Modernism and Empathy’.

Organised by Five International Associations of Modernists: BAMS, MSA, MSiA, AMSN, and SEM

Following its highly successful inaugural conference held in June 2018, the Modernist Studies in Asia Network (MSIA) calls for abstracts for its second annual international conference on the subject of ‘Modernism and Multiple Temporalities’.

Proposals for 25-30 minute papers are welcome for a one day event to take place online (via Zoom) on the 12th of July 2021, as a collaboration between the Modernist Studies in Asia network (MSIA) and the British Association of Modernist Studies (BAMS). Attendance is free and will be part of the BAMS Festival of Modernism.

The MSIA seeks proposals for short, persuasive essays for a prospective peer-reviewed cluster on Modernism/modernity’s Print Plus platform.
